I find smoothies the best way to start the day, have a snack, and pack your body with nutrients.
“Detoxification” is a word that get’s thrown around a lot. Everyone seems to have a theory on how it works. People are filling their intestine with water, drinking only juice for ten days, and who hasn’t heard their friend say “I am on a cleanse”, like it is the latest fashion trend. Yep, everyone is hoping to erase their poor choices of the past, while keeping the body squeaky clean.
I prefer the approach of balance and clean living. Have some of the sinfully delicious, and have even more of the eat-clean-greens. This is much easier to maintain… and to be quite honest, the thought of colon cleansing makes me uncomfortable (not to mention is very controversial).
Instead, try this high fibre, rehydrating smoothie.
What you need:
1 cup kale or spinach (or both)
3-4 stalks of celery
1/2 a cucumber
1 small apple (cut in to quarters)
1/2 lemon, juiced
2 dates, pitted
1/2 water (option: coconut water)
Blend until smooth.
Your body will love this electrolytes, antioxidant, detox, smoothie.
Justifying poor choices is a slippery slope to living un-well (obviously). Take care of your body, it is the only one you have.
