Relaxation Meditation: Yoga Nidra

Has your meditation ever taken you into a hypnotic state?

Let’s talk about saving yourself, when life is just too much…

I have been struggling with my sleep lately.

Night after night, I crawl into my white cloud like bed, and lay there counting sheep… until even they fall asleep.

I will be the first to admit that sometimes I almost drown in all my tasks.  I don’t always have the option to SAY NO. So, as gracefully as possible, I pick up one more ball and juggle.

It is in times like this, that I reach into my Mary Poppin’s bag of tricks, and pull out a Lifebuoy.

Yoga nidra (Sanskrit: योग निद्रा) or yogic sleep is a state of consciousness between waking and sleeping, like the “going-to-sleep” stage.

It is a state in which the body is completely relaxed, and the practitioner becomes systematically and increasingly aware of the inner world by following a set of verbal instructions.

Benefits: Deep relaxation, powerful meditation, and restful sleep.

If you are wrestling with sleep, or just feeling overwhelmed, take some time and try a nidra.

It is supposed to be the next best thing to a good nights rest.

Whether you have five minutes, or time to simply closing your eyes and take one breath… find a moment of peace.

May you find rest and well-being in every moment of stress.
