Well, I did it! I started a new job! Dare I say it–my dream job.
It takes so many parts of who I am… and combines it all into one job.
I have been neglecting my personal brand because of this. I have had my eye on one prize, and it hasn’t been my site.
I am sorry–and I hope to find a balance between both. (And if you are wondering what the heck is going on with the site–it is getting a touch up).
NOTHING, I mean nothing feels better than when everything comes together. I am not sure I believed it was possible.
But it blew a revitalizing breath into my lungs. Little particles of hope and dreams resuscitated me.
Here is what I have learned…
I have been working hard at my career for a very long time. I have lost hope. I have lost clients. I have lost everything. I have had side jobs galore!
I have had moments that I wasn’t sure how I would pay my bills.
Part of me wasn’t sure that things would ever work out. I heard NO a lot more than I ever heard yes.
I will keep this short.
Keep trying if something is important to you. It might not work out how you think–but opportunity does come to those that work.
Jump at said opportunities when it aligns. You never know where it will go.
And DO NOT, I repeat DO NOT be shy to give more than you get. At least for awhile…
Because effort pays off. You learn from it and you display you work hard. It also creates good work ethic.
So dig deep, work hard, and never stop climbing.
Here is a story to finish things off. I once booked a shoot with a photographer. She text me two days before the shoot saying she went through a break-up and had to cancel. She told me she needed to focus on herself and her life. The funny thing about this is–she and I had had conversations about her brand. She wanted to build her personal brand.
Don’t get me wrong–I am not an insensitive person. I get that breaking up is hard to do. However it was complete contradicting of her to cancel the very thing she said she wanted to build.
I told her to reach out when she is ready… That was 6 months ago.
If you want something–you have to go for it. There will always be an excuse if you need one. If you need a break–take a break. But come back! No one can make your dreams come true but you. And you will find–you are the only person standing in your way.
David Bowie once said… say yes to something that scares you–as it is an opportunity just beyond your reach… (I can’t find the exact quote–but it is something like that).
